All We Know About The Upcoming Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Release

June 19, 2023

Introduction

Nike and Supreme are of course two of the biggest brands in the streetwear/sneaker industry. They have collaborated on numerous projects in the past but perhaps none are as sought after as when the pair come together to design a Nike Dunk sneaker. Last year, we saw an underwhelming release with the Nike SB Dunk High “Supreme By Any Means” not being received so well. This was in contrast to the 2021 collab which saw the highly sought-after Supreme Stars SB Dunk Low release for $110 retail price.

This summer 2021 pair were available in four colorways: “Black,” “Mean Green,” “Hyper Blue,” and “Barkroot Brown.”, taking inspiration from the Dunk High Pro SB release from 2003. They were released exclusively on Supreme’s website, featuring a premium white leather base on the upper, contrasted by overlays of debossed faux crocodile skin. “Metallic Gold” stars meanwhile encircle the midfoot region around the Swoosh branding, hence the shoe’s name mentioning “stars”. Other branding elements included the iconic “NIKE” embroidered at the rear, co-branded signature red printed insoles, and of course “WORLD FAMOUS/SUPREME/NIKE” hangtags. As one would expect, this collab sold out within seconds and the shoes would soon be fetching anywhere from $1000-$1500, depending on the colorway on platforms such as StockX and GOAT. Even now in 2023, most pairs will still set you back over $500.

Well, if you missed the 2021 release now is your second chance with Nike and Supreme announcing the release of a Rammellzee-themed collab earlier this year. The collab, which will feature both an SB Dunk Low and SB Dunk High is rumored to be on the way soon, so here is all you need to know!

SB Dunk Low

Named after the late American visual artist Rammellzee both the low and high versions feature his diverse artwork. Supreme has previously showcased Rammellzee’s artwork, notably in their Spring/Summer 2020 collection which featured his art on graphic tees and pullovers. However, this is Nike’s first time using his work.

This beautifully designed SB Dunk Low features a base and underlays that each use a canvas material in a beige hue with multi-colored graphics. This is complemented by black suede overlays on the mudguards, lacing systems, medial Swooshes, and tongues.

Other design elements include golden “SUPREME” lace dubraes, tonal tongue tags, and “WORLD FAMOUS” branding on the aglets and hangtags, all of which are similar to what we saw in 2021. The design sits on top of black stitched midsoles and gum rubber outsoles.

The SB Dunk High takes on a completely different look from the low. Light grey suede replaces the black seen on the low, with the mudguard and swooshes donning the color. They also include gum bottoms, contrasting nicely with the white midsole shown.

Like the other pair, the high of course features a golden “SUPREME” dubrae and a hangtag that displays the phrase “WORLD FAMOUS” above the logos of both Supreme and Nike. Finally, The artwork of Rammellzee is featured on the toe box, quarter panel, collar, and heel overlay.

What We Know

Currently, neither Nike nor Supreme has given specific details as to when this new collab will release. However, many expect it to be next month, July 2023. The SB Dunk Low is expected to retail for $130, while the high will be slightly more at $140. Some sources have said that both pairs will only drop on Sumpreme’s website and select skate shops, whilst others have said Nike SNKRS will also get stock.

One thing we do know for sure is that whenever they drop, both pairs will be extremely hyped and likely sell out within seconds as we saw in 2021.
