Without further delay, here are the 10 highest-selling NFTs of May 2023, in ascending order. Note that this list excludes transactions that could be deemed to be illegitimate

10. Bored Ape Yacht Club #2857 ($182,000)

Bored Apes have been at the top of lists like these ever since NFTs began to blow up. Owners of a Bored Ape NFT are granted access to a private online club, exclusive in-person events, and intellectual property rights for the image. This may help explain why you’re going to see a few more of these funky monkeys on this list. This particular one features a King’s Crown, worn by only 1% of apes.

9. CryptoPunk #1630 ($201,000)

One of the first NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain, CryptoPunks are algorithmically generated 24×24 pixel art images. There are 10,000 unique CryptoPunks, each with their own set of characteristics. These have become a status symbol of sorts and like with BAYC, you can expect to see more than this Top Hat boasting Punk on this list

8. CyrptoPunk #3990 ($282,000)

Well, we already have another CryptoPunk at the number 8 position. This one rocks a grey hoodie, one of the most desirable features in the world of Punks. Still not sure if it’s nice enough to warrant the nearly $300,000 price tag though…

7. Autoglyph #376 ($282,000)

Owned by Larva Labs (also the owners of CryptoPunks), Autoglyphs is the first “on-chain” generative art on the Ethereum blockchain. They are a completely self-contained mechanism for the creation and ownership of an artwork. This particular version raked in an eye-watering $282,000.

6. CryptoPunk #6106 ($304,000)

Another hooded Punk here, this time #6106. This one boasts slightly different facial hair than the one previously which is apparently enough to warrant an extra $22,000. Who knew beards were so valuable…

5. Otherdeed for Otherside #8 ($307,000)

The Otherside metaverse is a world-building metaverse platform based on the Ethereum network. Players within Otherside can explore the metaverse as an NFT avatar, and engage and compete with other players. Meanwhile, Otherdeed is the key to claiming land in Otherside. Each piece has a unique blend of environment and sediment. This piece of land must’ve been particularly fertile based on the fact it fetched over $300,000 last month

4. CryptoPunk #4680 ($316,000)

Well what would you know, it’s another hooded Punk. At least this one features some eyewear though, donning an eye mask. This one was sold by ComfyDevil, a prominent figure in the NFT space.

3. Bored Ape Yacht Club #6805 ($354,000)

Finally, we have another Bored Ape, and it won’t be our last either. This Ape features two of the rarest traits you can get – Laser eyes and a Diamond Grill. It is pretty cool looking, you can’t lie.

2. Fidenza #971 ($687,000)

Fidenza by Tyler Hobbes is a unique collection of NFTs that are created using a versatile algorithmThe Fidenza collection is a part of the Art Blocks Curated series. Art Blocks is a platform that hosts generative projects, allowing artists to deploy generative scripts on the Ethereum blockchain. There are 999 NFTs in the Fidenza collection, and they have a total market cap of $158.99 million. This particular one fetched a whopping $687,000.

1. Bored Ape Yacht Club #4980 ($972,000)

The highest-selling NFT of last month was this Solid Gold ape. It was bought by PimpCapital, one of the biggest accounts on OpenSea. Out of the 10,000 unique Bored Apes, only 46 are solid gold. The price commanded would be enough to fetch you over 15kg of real solid gold. Tell us again how NFTs are dead.
